CNC robots from Switzerland: Innovative solutions from MABI Robotic AG

MABI Robotic AG has made a name for itself as a leading Swiss company by developing and locally producing high-precision industrial robots, linear axes and rotary tilting tables for CNC machining and additive manufacturing. As one of the few robotics companies in Switzerland that focuses on local production and assembly, MABI Robotic strives to revolutionize the robotics market through continuous innovation and outstanding products. In this context, the focus is on the MAX-100-2.25-P industrial robot, which not only performs assembly and handling tasks but, in combination with a milling spindle, also enables complex machining tasks in the field of CNC milling. The high path accuracy and impressive rigidity are achieved by secondary encoders on all axes, while the SINUMERIK CNC control system from Siemens and the expertise of the employees open up completely new manufacturing strategies for the user.

Additive manufacturing

Additive manufacturing

Additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, is a process by which three-dimensional objects are built up layer by layer. With conventional manufacturing methods, material is removed or molded. By adding material, shapes can be produced that are not possible with other methods. The CNC robots from MABI Robotic AG are the optimal tool for large objects.

Model and mold making

Model and mold making

When developing prototypes, models are milled in original size in some areas. This gives you the advantage of being able to stand next to the object and get an impression of the finished design. Such models are most frequently used by the automotive industry to see the design of the vehicles in full size.

Robot control cabinet and controller: Siemens quality for optimum performance

The control of a CNC robot is crucial for its performance. At MABI Robotic, we rely on Siemens components such as the Run my Robot controller. We offer both a control cabinet specially adapted to our robots and the option of expanding it with two additional motors. Alternatively, Siemens offers the Robot Control Cabinet to ensure maximum flexibility and performance.

MRC-Standard

MRC-Standard

The standard version of the control cabinet was designed for the basic system of our CNC robot. The six axes are controlled by the robot and an additional milling spindle or linear path. We will be happy to advise you on the best possible variant.

MRC-Custom

MRC-Custom

The custom version is a larger control cabinet for systems with robot, linear track and milling spindle. Extensions such as additional axes PLC systems can be added according to customer requirements. This means that our CNC robot can be perfectly integrated into existing systems.

Frequently asked questions

How do the CNC robots from MABI Robotic AG achieve such high path accuracy?

We achieve high-precision kinematics thanks to the exact manufacturing tolerance and the high measuring and testing effort. In contrast to normal industrial robots, we have installed secondary encoders in our CNC robots and can therefore measure and compare the position on the input and output shafts. The combination of high-precision kinematics, secondary encoders and factory calibration with a measurement protocol specially developed for CNC robots enables us to achieve top values for the path accuracy of our CNC robots.

Why are industrial robots from other manufacturers cheaper?

The main feature of CNC robots is their high precision. In order to achieve such high accuracy, precisely toleranced components are required, which are also much more expensive to manufacture. By using an optical measuring system on each axis, the accuracy and production costs are increased. In addition, industrial robots from other manufacturers are often not optimized for CNC controls or have to be retrofitted. We therefore supply a "ready to run" system that is specially designed for manufacturing processes in metalworking.

To what extent do industrial robots, especially CNC robots, play a key role in the manufacturing landscape?

The CNC robots are primarily used in subtractive and additive manufacturing and can be a cost-effective alternative to portal milling machines thanks to their large machining area. Like other industrial robots, the MABI robot can be equipped with an exchangeable tool. For example, we can switch to a gripper for loading, then use the deposition welding head and finally process the surfaces with the milling spindle. We are therefore confident that our industrial robots are a suitable product for the manufacturing landscape.
